Launch of SIICEX and Uruguay Smart Services

With the attendance of public and private authorities, executives and professionals, the Information System of Investment and Foreign Trade (SIICEX) and Uruguay Smart Services, by Uruguay XXI, were presented.

Siicex.gub.uy is an official website that centralizes all operational information to foreign trade and investment. On the other hand, SmartServices.uy provides specific and segmented information about global export services (Corporate, Information Technology, Pharmaceutical & Healthcare, Architecture & Engineering).

The launch took place on Thursday 28th August in the SODRE National Auditorium. The Minister of Foreign Affairs Luis Almagro opened the event. "We created a great platform of inclusion and change. We are democratizing information. We celebrate this great joy" said the chancellor.

The executive secretary of the Interministerial Commission for Foreign Trade Affairs (CIACEX), Alvaro Ons, explained that these are a joint effort of public and private sector and invited interested parties to be linked to the system. "We are building a community in the field of foreign trade and investment."

The executive director of the Agency for Electronic Government and Information Society (Agesic), José Clastornik, congratulated the team and said that these initiatives are part of e-government, in which Uruguay leads the rankings of the United Nations for Latin America.

Then, the representative of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in Uruguay, Juan José Taccone, highlighted the quality and importance of these sites and noted "Uruguay has great potential for the future in the area of global services."

Finally, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Mario Bergara, said "these platforms show the commitment of the State and the private sector to continue with this foreign trade strategy and investment strategy that have proved successful in the last years".
