Parks & Free Zone Operators

    In Uruguay there are 12 Free Zones or Customs Exclaves. 11 are private Free Zones and one is a state-owned Free Zone.

    Most global services are provided from Free Zones, although there are also companies outside them, mainly in downtown Montevideo (Aguada, Centro, Ciudad Vieja, Pocitos Nuevo).

    The Parks and Free Zones Operators specialized in Pharma & Health services operating currently in Uruguay are presented below:

  • It is a Free Zone focused on receiving pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies and those providing support services to them. Operational since December 2011, Parque de las Ciencias has already a 65,000 square meters area of buildings.
  • Public body governed by private law established to provide a context for the relationships between the business sector that is committed to the innovation in Uruguay, and the science sector that is capable of developing new processes and products.
  • An organization created in 1965 as a joint effort of the government and the private sector. Its mission is to promote the sustainable development of the country and its international insertion through innovation and the transfer of value solutions.
  • First Free Zone established in Uruguay, located on Route 8, Km 17.5, close to Carrasco International Airport. At present it has 8 business platforms available, almost 350 companies established and generates more than 9,500 job positions.
  • It is a Free Zone of services strategically located in the city of Montevideo and has world class business infrastructure which enables its clients to work in the first and unique LEED tower in Uruguay.
  • Located near Montevideo´s central business district and port, it has state of the art infrastructure in a tower with 19 floors within a 56,000 square meters area with a total investment of US$ 50 million (land, two buildings and equipment).
