Merck launches hub in Uruguay
Merck has a long and successful track record in Uruguay. The company arrived in Uruguay more than 60 years ago, when the first office came to our country. It was in 1996 that Merck opened its operations in Zonamerica, Uruguay's business and technology park. From there they began to develop activities as a regional hub for the distribution of biotechnological products and a provider of regional and global services.
A strategic decision was made at global level to establish the new corporate services center for Latin America in Montevideo: Merck Business Services LatAm. This decision confirms Uruguay as one of the strategic places to provide services from Montevideo to the region. The main reasons for this decision are due to economic, social, and political stability which Uruguay is characterized as well as by the competitiveness of its skilled professional services and strong customer orientation of our human resources.
Merck Business Services LatAm (MBSL) will start its activities in January 2018, taking as a reference the experience built on the successful implementation of other corporate services centers based in Europe and Asia. Having service center presence in these locations will best serve their growing markets in key regions.
